Know Before You Go:
Suggested Paddle Trip:
Lake Junaluska Boat Ramp to Lake Junaluska Dam
Trip Length: ~2 Miles (~1 to 2 Hours)
Difficulty Level: Beginner
Lake Junaluska is small enough for beginners to feel comfortable paddling in it and scenic enough for advanced paddlers to enjoy it as well. Only electric trolling motors & unmotorized crafts like paddleboards are allowed in this lake to maintain it’s calm and peaceful atmosphere.
It’s a roughly 1 mile paddle from the boat ramp to the dam on the other side of the lake. Experienced paddlers will have no problem navigating around the entirety of the lake. Beginners may choose to stay within the smaller section of the lake near the boat ramp before paddling under the Turbeville footbridge.
Less than 30 minutes from Asheville, Lake Junaluska is a great candidate for sunrise & sunset paddle trips! If you happen to be at the lake between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm, be sure to stop by Crepe & Custard for delicious snacks!
