Enjoy an 11-mile, wonderfully calm paddle down the French Broad River, from Horseshoe Bend River Access Area to Westfeldt Park (river miles 41.5-52.5).
This longer trip promises more of the river to yourself, away from the usual crowds. Start by navigating the scenic Horseshoe Bend, then glide past peaceful Mills River farmlands. The point where Mills River joins the French Broad is a great spot to take a break. Shortly after (around river mile 50), Mud Creek flows in, where MountainTrue and Conserving Carolina maintain two pre-bookable campsites for overnighters.
Finish your journey at Westfeldt Park, just minutes from Sierra Nevada Brewery—the perfect spot to unwind and refuel after your extended paddle! Always check conditions before you launch, and take breaks as needed.
